Family Education, Support, & Training

The best decisions in life are made when you have the best and most up to date information. Since our inception, Advocates has been providing information, support with service access, medical advocacy and education to families who have loved ones with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We continue to partner with expert presenters to offer free trainings through our Family Support Services grant.

We offer Family Training on a variety of topics that are of interest to our community of families, such as Navigating the Service System, Educational Advocacy, Supported Communication, Sensory Strategies, Benefits and SSI, Guardianship, Trusts, Transition Planning, Sexuality, Communication Skills, Nutrition and Wellness, and Behavioral Supports.

If you’d like to learn more about a specific topic or simply want to connect, please email training@advocatesincorporated.org or visit our Events & Registration page for upcoming training events.

The Family Reimbursement program is designed to provide some financial relief to families who are caring for a child with an intellectual or developmental disability. Not only does Family Reimbursement offer respite reimbursement to parents/guardians but we also provide funding for other Goods and Services such as therapeutic recreational activities, adaptive lessons and classes, home modifications, specialized adaptive equipment, and emergency services.

If you are interested in finding out more, have specific questions on what we may cover or would like to apply, please contact familysupport@advocatesincorporated.org.
