Advocates Family Training

Tuesday, August 20, 2019 | 6:00 – 8:00 pm Presented by: Upstate Special Needs Planning | James Traylor Location: Onondaga Free Library | 4840 West Seneca Turnpike | Syracuse

Often times, families do not understand the unique life care planning issues that can come with supporting a family member with a disability or other special needs. In this seminar, we will take a holistic look at some of the key issues’ caregivers face, including but not limited to, life care planning, special needs trusts, individualized supports and services, and the use of government programs. Four primary questions will be discussed:

  1. What will happen to my loved one when I am no longer here?
  2. What are the legal considerations needed to protect my loved one and family?
  3. How do I maximize available benefits and services?
  4. What supplemental income options does my loved one have?

The challenge of planning for the future of a loved one with special needs can extend into many areas, including education, housing employment, support services, legal, financial and other personal matters. All of these areas must be taken into consideration in order to develop a plan that meets the unique needs of each family. It is important for families to answer these important questions and plan for the future with the goal of independent, dignity and quality of life for their loved one. We hope to see you there!
