In 2010, Kevin Gentry enthusiastically devoted himself to volunteering over 100 hours throughout the year to earn the Presidential Volunteer Service Award! The award is a prestigious national honor offered in recognition of volunteer service.
Using his Self-Determination services, Kevin has found a great way to give back to his community with his dedication to volunteerism. Kevin and his MyChoice Mentor complete a mail-run for Advocates 2-3 times per week, picking up mail from the Advocates office that is ready to be delivered to other local agencies and making their mail-run through town. They work as a team to deliver mail to EFR, Arise, Arc, the DSO, Enable and Liberty Resources. His commitment has had a positive impact on the daily mail operations of the Advocates office. Kevin received his Presidential Volunteer Service Award on stage at the 2011 Advocates Talent Show.
Kevin is also a faithful volunteer for St. Lucy's Food Pantry, where he and his Mentor deliver produce twice a week and bake cookies for the food pantry patrons. He also serves the Rescue Mission as a volunteer at one of their Thrifty Shopper stores to raise funds for local Rescue Mission programs.
