My name is Donald Mayer. I have had a dream since I was in High School to work at News Channel 9. My Advocates Service Coordinator helped me find an opportunity through the state Employment Training Program to start my dream.

She helped me to get a position at Channel 9 on an intern basis. I worked hard at the station and on the Bridge Street studio set, keeping the building clean and delivering mail between buildings. I have met many good people there who have become more than co-workers, they are my friends.

This year, I was invited to the Channel 9 annual Holiday party. I went with my mom to the party expecting to dance and have some great food. To my surprise, the big boss came to my table and asked me if I wanted a paid position with the Station. I was overjoyed, I immediately said "YES!" and was overcome with tears of joy.

It just goes to show if you work hard your dreams can come true.
